Knowledge management (KM) is a systematic approach to generating, collecting, organizing, and synthesizing knowledge at all levels of the health system—from the global, regional, and national levels to the community level—so that the health workforce can find, share, and use critical information to improve their programs. 

This KM Training Package for Global Health Programs aims to develop your skills, as well as strengthen your capacity in KM to build better global health programs. It is a self-paced training with resources, tools, templates and exercises that you will find practical to learn KM on your own and help you start using KM in your work!

The Training package includes two key components:

  2. The Five-step Knowledge Management Road Map - a 5-step systematic process for finding, sharing and using knowledge strategically

Course Overview and Structure

This course is designed to provide trainees with the requisite competencies, knowledge and skills and attitudes to manage cybersecurity treats in the health sector.

The course is structured into five units:

  1. Unit One: Introduction to Cyber Security and Internet Safety
  2. Unit Two: Introduction to Information Security
  3. Unit Three: Cyberattacks and Business Continuity 
  4. Unit Four: Health Informatics Privacy and Security
  5. Unit Five: Healthcare Data Governance, Ethics, Standards and Regulations

Expected Learning Outcomes 

By the end of the course, each participant will be able to:

  1. Identify common cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
  2. Develop strong cyber security and internet safety skills.
  3. Identify, mitigate and respond effectively to potential and actual cybersecurity threats.
  4. Apply innovative tools and approaches for efficient health information privacy.
  5. Utilise appropriate standards and regulations to build resilient healthcare systems to ensure business continuity after a cyberattack.
  6. Implement best practices for protecting self, patients, and the organization from cyberattacks.
  7. Respond appropriately to a cyberattack.

Target Group is the entire workforce in the health sector and preservice trainees, front-line health workers, support staff (data clerks, information officers, etc), students in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) pursuing health related programs.

Entry Requirements: The health workforce from the Ministry of Health and in the private sector, or any person pursuing a relevant Preservice Health program. Must also have basic computer literacy or skills, grade 12 certificate, Minimum 5 ‘O’ level and have English literacy.

Course Duration: Each unit requires 30 credit hours to complete. Total credit hours: 150.

Certification: Once the participant has completed all of the units and scored 70 percent and above in the course units, they will be eligible for a system generated certificate.

Welcome to this short course on Governance and Ethics for Health Systems Strengthening. In this course, you will learn about the oversight, implementation and accountability of policies and the role of health laws, agreements and set up of governance structures in the health care sector. You will also learn about the ethical, moral and professional rules and standards in health care delivery.

It will take you approximately 2 hours to complete the course.

Upon completion, you will earn a certificate, which you will be able to download from your end.
